很多同学只知道 call 表示打电话，却不知道 call 还有其他意思需要掌握！

call 作动词，在初中阶段，主要有以下几个意思，并构成短语：

一、call 译为 “打电话”

1、call sb. = call sb. up 给某人打电话

I was watching TV when you called me (up).

你给我打电话的时候，我正在看电视。

Please call me at any time.

任何时候都可以给我打电话。

2、call sb. at 号码；（考察介词）

Call me at 1503939849.

用这个号码给我打电话。

If you are in trouble, call the police at 110. 有困难打110找警察。

3、call back 回电话

When you called me, I was busy. I called back later, though.

你给我打电话时，我在忙，不过我后面给你回了电话。

动词 ring 除了表示“（铃声）响” 也可以表示“打电话”

call 也可以做名词，表示“打电话”

give sb. a call 给某人打电话

I will give you a call on Saturday.

周六我给你打电话。

make a call 打个电话

May I make a call now?

我现在可以打个电话吗？

接电话使用 pick up 或 answer

二、call 译为“称呼，叫，叫做”

call sb. ... 称呼/叫某人...

可以与 name 互换，name sb. ...

They called the cat Lucky.

They named the cat Lucky.

他们叫这只猫 Lucky。

When Alice was young, her parents called her "Little Sweet".

爱丽丝小时候，妈妈叫她“小甜心”。

阅读理解中常用其过去分词做定语的形式，译为“（被）称为/叫做..."

A boy called Milkebroke the window.

一个叫Mike的男孩打破了窗户。

A man called Athenwrote the book.

一个叫Athen的人写了这本书。

三、call 译为“呼喊，喊”

Did someone call me just now?

刚刚有人在叫我吗？

call （out）for help （大声）呼救，寻求帮助

I heard somebody call for help.

我听见某人在呼救。

ask for help 寻求帮助 （在ask的用法中有讲到）

1、call up 打电话，征召/召集

Don‘t call him up after 8:30.

2、call in 请来，找来

He called in a nurse to look after his wife.

他找来了一名护士照顾妻子。

My mom called in a teacher to help me study English.

3、call on sb. 拜访某人
