这并不是“在热水中”，准确来说，是指人处在麻烦中，深陷困难中。其实可以理解为身处在热水之中，人自然就身处困境。

2.water under the bridge 已成往事，无法改变的事情

“水已经在桥下面了，回不来了”，特指事情已经是无法改变的了，已成往事，改变不了了。

3.throw cold water on something 泼冷水
