与明喻不同，隐喻是一种直接比较看似不相关的主题的语言。这是一种比喻，用来比较两个或两个以上的事物，而不用like或as。在最简单的情况下，它的形式是:

什么是重复（tautology）?

Tautology is a statement that says the same thing twice in different ways, or a statement that is unconditionally true by the way it is phrased.

重言是一种陈述，用不同的方式说了同一件事两次，或者是一种表述方式无条件正确的陈述。

借代是一种修辞手法，通过列举某物的几个组成部分或特征的传统短语来指代某物。

Flesh and bone. (Referring to the body).
