大多数高考英语考纲词汇集，只列了单词、词性和词义，没有例句和辨析讲解。笔者试图在考纲词汇的基础上，给出例句或短语，并对个别重点词汇作出讲解、辨析，希望对老师的教学和学生的学习有所帮助。

知识在于积累。在没有特殊原因的情况下，我计划根据考纲词汇，争取坚持每天讲解几个单词，不断更新。忙很了，也可能过几天才能更新。

在讲解过程中，错误在所难免，希望读者在发现错误的时候，及时在评论区给予批评、指正。

beforeprep.在…前面，在…以前 conj.在…之前adv.以前：

Knock on the door before you enter. 进屋之前要先敲门。

I have never met him before. 以前我从来没有见过他。

【注意】before long 不久以后 / long before 很久以前

beg v.请原谅，对不起；请再说一遍：

Oh, I beg your pardon. I thought you meant next Tuesday.

哟，对不起，我还以为你是指下个星期二。

--The meeting is on Wednesday.

–I beg your pardon.

–I said the meeting’s on Wednesday.

—会议星期三开。

--请您再说一遍吧。

--我说会议星期三开。

beginv.(began, begun)开始，着手：

The bell rang for the lesson to begin. 开始上课的铃响了。

Once you begin you must continue. 你一旦开始，便不可停下来。

【注意】1.有时用于进行时态，表示“慢慢开始”、“逐渐”：

He was beginning to miss her. 他慢慢开始想念她了。

2. 其后接不定式或动名词均可，含义基本相同：

The band began to play [playing]. 乐队开始演奏。但是，当begin 本身是-ing形式时或后接表心理活动的动词时，则只能接不定式：

He began to like poetry when he was a boy. 他还是孩子时就开始喜欢诗歌。

beginning n.[C]开始，开端，起源：

Of course that’s only a beginning. 当然这只是一个开头。

【短语】at [in] the beginning 起初，在开始时

at the beginning of 在…之初，在…开始时

from the beginning 从开始，从一开始

behalf n.代表；由于（某人）：

On behalf of everyone here, may I wish you a very happy retirement.

我代表在座各位祝你退休愉快。

Oh, don’t go to any trouble on my behalf.不要因为我而麻烦你。

behave v.举动，表现；检点：

I’m sorry about last night—I behaved like a child.对不起，昨天晚上我表现得太幼稚。

Did Peter behave himself while I was away?我不在时，彼得守规矩吗？

behaviour n.举止；行为;检点：

The headmaster will not tolerate bad behaviour in class.校长不会容忍班上不规矩的行为。

I want you both to be on your best behaviour at Granddad’s.

我希望你们俩在爷爷家要尽可能循规蹈矩。

behindprep.在…后面 adv.在后面：He was behind the others in ability. 他的能力比其他人差。/ If winter comes，can spring be far behind? 冬天来了，春天还会远吗?

being n.诞生；出现；存在；生物：

a society that first came into being in 1912.于1912年成立的协会。

strange beings from outer space.来自外太空的奇怪生物。

belief n.信心，信念；信仰；信任：

It is my belief that racism remains widespread in British society.

我认为种族主义在英国社会中仍然普遍存在。

If you are selling, you have to have genuine belief in the product.

如果你卖东西，你必须对这产品真正有信心。

believev.相信，想，认为：

You can’t believe anything she says. 你不能相信她说的话。

I believe he has come. 我想他已经来了。

【注意】believe sb=相信某人的话是真的，believe in sb=相信某人为人可靠，believe in sth=相信…的存在，相信…的真实性
