1. 表示“在旅馆”，可用介词 in 或 at。如：

We met at the hotel. 我们是在一家旅馆见面的。

汉语中说“住旅馆”，英语可用 put up [stay] at (in) a hotel, 但不能按汉语习惯直译成 live at [in] a hotel。

2. 表示为某人预订旅馆房间，英语用book sb in at。如：

I had booked you in at a hotel in Torquary. 我在托尔凯的一家旅馆给你预订了房间。

若表示在旅馆登记办理住宿手续，则用check in at或check into。如：

He checked in at the hotel under a false name. 他用假名登记入住旅馆。

若表示在旅馆办理付账及退房手续，则用check out (of)。如：

You must check out before 12 o’clock. 您必须在12点钟前结账退房。

3. 构成专有名词时，通常要用定冠词，如the Grand Hotel（大饭店），the Friendship Hotel（友谊宾馆），the Peace Hotel（和平饭店），the Anchor Hotel（安克尔饭店），等。

有时可将 hotel 前置，此时也需用定冠词，如the Hotel Waldort（沃尔多特饭店）。

4. 汉语中的“五星级饭店”，说成英语是a five-star hotel。类似的有：a three-star hotel 三星级酒店 / a four-star hotel 四星级酒店。
