拼缀法（blending）是把两个词同时进行裁剪，或截头或去尾，或只裁剪两个词中的一个，保留另外一个。然后把两部分拼合在一起，构成一个新词。Blending is a process of word formaiton by combining parts of two words or a word plus a part of another word. 具体做法包括分为：词首 词尾，词首 词首，词首 单词，单词 词尾。拼缀法构词一般首先出现于报刊文章、科技文章利。用这种构词法创造的新词言简意丰，生动别致，符合现代人快节奏的甚或。必须承认，拼缀法（blending）是当代英语新词汇发展丰富的重要的构词方式之一。

从上面的例词可以看出拼缀词大多是名词,拼缀动词与形容词较少.这类词多用在科技、报刊等文体中,随着英语语言简单化的趋势,生活领域里的拼缀词必将大量涌现,掌握这类词的特点,对分析单词结构,记忆单词、扩大词汇量都将起到积极的作用。
