爱思英语编者按：俗话说“no zuo no die why you try”（不作不死你偏要试），搬起石头砸了自己的脚，说到底就是“自找”的，那么英文里有哪些习语可以表示类似的含义呢？

 
1. Dig one’s own grave

这不就是传说中的“自掘坟墓”嘛？
 
例： If Sam pursues that course, he'll be digging his own grave.
如果山姆走上那条路的话，无异于自掘坟墓。
 
2. Shoot oneself in the foot
 
还是英文的表达更腹黑，这是直接躺枪的节奏啊!
 
例：He shot himself in the foot by telling the press too much.
他在媒体面前说的太多了，结果却搬起石头砸自己的脚。
 
3. Paint oneself into a corner
 
这个短语跟艺术创作没有半毛钱关系，它的意思是让自己陷入困境。
 
例：By volunteering to do more work in the office and then taking a freelance job, George had painted himself into a corner.
乔治在单位抢着干活，还接了个自由职业的工作，真是要把自己逼疯。

4. Dig yourself into a hole
　
给自己挖个坑，跳下去就真的上不来了。
 
例：Stop trying to explain yourself! No one believes you, and you're just digging yourself into a hole.
别再撇清自己了，没人相信，你只会越描越黑。
 
5. Lay up trouble for oneself
 
Lay up是“贮存、搁置”的意思，把麻烦给自己存上了, 那麻烦离你还会远吗？
 
例：You are laying up trouble for yourself if you ignore my advice now.
你现在不听我的劝告以后一定会给自己惹上麻烦。
 
6. Sow the seeds of sth.
 
都说种瓜得瓜，种豆得豆，因果之间的联系很难说哦~
 
例：They have sowed the seeds of their own destruction.
他们这是自取灭亡。
 
7. Stew in one’s own juice/juices
 
小伙伴们看仔细了，这可不是“原汤化原食”哦~ 而是中文常说的“自食其果”的意思。
 
例：Let her stew in her own juices for a bit.
就让她自作自受吃点儿苦头吧。
 
8. You’ve made your own bed, so you must lie in it.

Make one’s bed是“整理床铺”的意思。“自己铺的床，自己躺”，铺得不好自然睡得不舒服，所以这句话常用来表示“自作自受”！
